Back in 2007, Tom and I ventured ourselves one morning at Horsetooth after a snow storm during the spring. That night the weather had been sitting ass between two chairs (we can say this no?)... read, it was like tonite, that rain will turn into snow. That morning, nature had gotten up at night. Nature had used its magical comb. The trees, the cactus, branches or pretty much anything that could hang something was part of the play. The snow had been combed by the wind and this ephemeral beauty wo…

I wonder what common genes this group of rider has... the're probably 130,000 people living in the nearby area but only a group of 10 consistent riders are showing up at this strange hour of the day to:

Freeze their ass off, ride in the dark, go up some sick uphills, get blown away…

Ran across this picture from a couple years ago at the top of Wathen and given the storm we had last night the snow is probably pretty close today. Kind of hard to get out when it snows this much. Time to go say hello to the stationary bike I guess for a couple days.

Isn't this weather crazy? I can not believe the quality of rides we have been getting in latley. Been thinking about you guys alot lately. Going to have to make the trip up again real soon to ride again. Finally got rid of my 99 GT Idrive. Had over 8,000 miles on it, with a lot of stock parts still. The stock handlebars were starting to worry me a little. Stumbled across a deal on a 2005 Kona Dawg Deeluxe that I am totally diggin.
Been doing alot of FIFO rides in the morning and also night ride…

I read a quote today I just had to pass on to the rest of you....but not before I read it over and over. While reading I had to think back over the past year of riding with the 4:50 club. How lucky am I to be able to get up early in the morning and join up with others who enjoy just getting out and riding.
Some days are darn early, cold, rainy or hot but I can't remember one in which I did not laugh about something during the ride. Even the day at Bobcat after a late night party was worth every…

I finally sat long enough to make sure a video was uploaded. It is footage taken on the way down Soderberg to Springcreek trying to catch up. Better ones will follow.

I finally broke down and bought an Amoeba headlamp from Jay (FIFO club from Denver). Jay hooked me up with a last minute build last weekend and even met me at Johnson's corner to deliver the goods so I could ride Tuesday morning.
The light is very nice and comparable in brightness and beam to my old Niterider HID lamp. The nice part is the lamp and battery weigh about as much as the old headlamp was by itself. You can set it up with the battery attached to the top of the helmet for "no-wires" m…

The wind and snow scared away everyone this morning. Gary and Angelo get partial credit for starting their ride at 6am. Today was just a glimpse of what is to come this winter. Get on your warm clothes and ride.

For Saturday, we need a good turnout to clear the 5 trees that fell do…

Holy batman, tomorrow is October 1st. We need to figure out when everyone can take a trip to Fruita or Moab this Fall.
I have trailday at Bobcat on October 18th that we need to help with and then a college visit with my son on October 26th. The best days for me are looking like they will be in early November.
How does the weekend of November 7th to 9th sound? The weekend of Halloween is also open for me, but may not be a good option for those with little trick-or-treaters (munchkins).

This week's race was held on the same course as race #1 only backwards, (get it now?) so it should have been all down hill right? The mud had a bit to say about that. The same gearing for race #1 was a bit harder to push in the soft tread after the weekend's rain.
As always the competition looked fit and ready to put some hurtin on. The first corner was wide and the pace quickly filled the legs with lactic acid. First obstacle, a little mud hole followed by a short steep left hand ascent. Pract…

The chickens stayed in bed today - Mr Randy and I braved the not so cold morning at Horsetooth. Service road up, Wathen down - The trails were mildly damp and snow could be found on the north facing parts of the mountain... It's clearly time to start to acclimate ... before the chickens turn into eggs

I managed to get my first flat in 2 years.... the front tire started to get way soft by the service on the way down.... i…

Tonight was the opening race of the New Belgium 4 race cyclocross series. Never having raced a cyclocross event I was not sure what to expect. Someone told me it must be a flat course because it takes place in the field behind the New Belgium brewery. I think he spent too much time in the brewery before saying this. There were short climbs o plenty with a 32-14 single speed. Calling it a field is a stretch, it winds through a large sand trap, up and down a pile of excavation remnants from the bu…

I'm now about to start my second and final day at the 2008 Interbike expo.... blogging last night just didn't happen as we were invited (Daniel, Arnaud from CGN France) by ControlTech for dinner at the Venetian. Tough. Then they forced me to go visit the town ...

AnyHO, Interbike is just huge. I managed to get lost several times and my head was spinning the whole time - Around 9:30 am, I was walking b…

It's not because i broke my bike again but i just booked a ticket for Vegas (flying out tonite) to attend the

Extanz will be there....
Does anyone have any special request? I know you guys want to see hot stuff but you let me know....
I'll try to keep a few blogs flowing throughout the show so keep coming on the blog for the late…

For some reasons.... it didn't come as a surprise when this evening my eyes caught something unusual*debatable* on my frame - My lower swing arm has 4 distinct cracks nearby the joint with the frame.... ouch.... see the pixies.... that frame is officially dead. I know it could be a replaceable part but I doubt Titus makes those anymore since they don't even make the Super Moto any more. The Quasimoto is an antique.
It had survived 6 years with me on it, a rollover in yellowstone (while on the r…

It seems the USA is getting a bit lax in their admission standards. Congratulations Angelo!! In keeping with Yann's trend of blog postings I felt compelled to chat about today's ride. It was a good showing on this fall morning, 7 in total couldn't hit the snooze fast enough. Jim started using up his points from the wine fest and joined the fun. Angelo had to show off his new passport. Doug was MIA trying to get his cold for the winter out of the way early. Typical ride, Soderberg, chase Yann up…
